We've been exploring the Greek islands for about 26 years, but when we first visited Alonissos we knew this island was going to become our best favourite. Ever. We found and bought Petros Cottage - which is a stone-built, traditional 200-year-old village house - in the middle of the last decade, when we visited Alonissos during a February snow storm. All very dramatic, but we figured if we loved the house in terrible conditions then in warmer days we would be very happy with it. And we are! We love our village and the people who live there, they're friendly and welcoming, and most of our Greek neighbours speak very good English, which is so good for us as our attempts at speaking Greek are well-intentioned but not very fluent. As you might guess we go to the cottage as much as we possibly can, and we still love it as much as the day we first set eyes on it....
